  • 1.  Regarding the issue of Java terminating abnormally while using ACS app

    Hello,

    I use a Mac(Tip:M1,OS version:Venture 13.6), and have Oracle Java JDK 21 installed. I use ACS(Version:1.1.9.3) to interact with IBM i using a 5250 emulator. However, I frequently encounter Java crashing, especially when I resize the screen. Is there a compatibility issue between Mac and Java, or does anyone know of a solution?

    Please share if you have any insights.

    Dear Koga-san

    There are several complaints about stability of using IBM i ACS in iMac in IBM i Global and IBM i Access Client Solutions groups and there has been no definite answer to this.  My guess is that you need to try one JRE for iMac after another until you find the most stable one.   IBM i has its own Semeru JRE for iMac that you can try and I suggest release 17.  One of IBM i Technote about ACS also mentions  Amazon Corretto Java 11 JDK as recommended.

    Thank you for your advice.

    I tried various things, and it turned out that by installing the Semeru JRE of 17 you recommended, instead of Oracle Java, everything started working without any issues.

    Thanks for your post which strengthens my faith in IBM Semeru JRE release 17 which I'm also using in my Windows 11 notebook.
