power8 CDIMM compatability

    Hello all,

I've got a question about the CDIMMs for power8. Are CDIMMs made for a particular power8 machine compatible with all power8s? In specific, I'm looking at getting some ram, model number 00LP740, CCIN 31E9, for an s824 server.

Thank you very much for your time

    Dear Rodney

In my experience with Power Systems HW from its inception, I have never known of any CCIN part that is "made for a particular" server model. Normally, it can be used among different server models, more or less but rarely all.

From this URL : https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/power8?topic=sp-8247-42l-8286-41a-8286-42a-system-parts , you can see that CCIN 31E9 can be used with Power System MTM 8247-42L, 8286-41A, and 8286-42A.  The last one is S824. But this memory module has a part number of 00VK195. It is better to find this part number instead.
