Is IBM VMRM HA orderable as a standalone software license or is it part of base software? If orderable, what is the procedure please?

IBM VMRM HA can be ordered as a separate license and also available with AIX Enterprise Edition bundle.

Suleman, this really isn't a topic that anyone in this group can answer. Ordering product is a function of sales, econfig or iERP are tools used for configuring and ordering. Normally this activity is done by a business partner/reseller. What you should do is to engage with the business partner involved in your project and they most certainly will know how to do this function.

    Hi Suleman,

The following is from one of my recent internal blog entries (note that I pulled out pricing but left the PIDs for reference since this is an externally facing community):

    https://w3.ibm.com/w3publisher/ibm-vm-recovery-manager-internal-wiki/blog/201d4740-a669-11ed-a498-6f7f3673456d

You may already be familiar with the two available software options that you need to consider when purchasing an IBM VM Recovery Manager solution.  VM Recovery Manager for HA enables VM Restart capabilities within a local data center and VM Recovery Manager for DR enables all of the HA & DR features along with the ability to deploy any of the available topologies including:  "HA", "DR", "HADR", or "HADRHA" essentially allowing for DR orchestration and mobility of VMs between sites.

The following two Product IDs (PIDs) may be purchased a la carte:

    • 5765-VRM - HA only Version ($ per managed core count)
    • 5765-DRG - HA & DR all inclusive version ($ per managed core count)

These are Perpetual (non-Expiring) licenses that include the 1st year of the support Software Maintenance Agreement (SWMA) and the support renewal every year thereafter would be 20% of the list price.

These two products may also be acquired when purchasing some of our extended OS offerings and other available product bundles:

    • AIX Enterprise Edition [5765-CD3 (AIX 7.2) or 5765-2E1] => includes VMR HA (5765-VRM) along with a number other products
    • Private Cloud Edition Bundle [5765-ECA (with AIX 7) or 5765-2C1] => includes VMR DR (5765-DRG) along with a number of other products
    • Private Cloud Edition Bundle [5765-CBA (without AIX) or 5765-6C1] => includes VMR DR (5765-DRG) along with a number of other products minus the OS

    * Note that 2nd PID is for a subscription option available in a 1 or 3 year term

The final and new option to acquire VMR licensing is via a Subscription model which introduces new PIDs that may be ordered in 1-5 year increments.  This model includes the product support for the term of the subscription and may be renewed or extended at any time.   The PIDs for these are:

VMR HA Subscription: [5771-RH2 - 1 Year] with the 577X incrementing by 1 for each additional year up to year 5

VMR DR Subscription: [5771-RD2 - 1 Year] with the 5771 incrementing by 1 for each additional year up to year 5

Feel free to reach out to myself or the offering manager Steven Finnes (finnes@us.ibm.com) with any additional questions.
