Hallo Heye,
After recently upgrading to IBM i 7.4 and finally getting around to configuring ObjectConnect over IP, one helpful source of information I found is
PDF file for ObjectConnect .
Granted I found that this PDF is currently only available from IBM i 7.5 Documentation, but is still relevant.
In the end we found the process to configure ObjectConnect over IP straightforward, even with having to assign a certificate to the ObjectConnect Server. We used a company generated certificate but the process to import and then assign was easy.
If you follow the steps as per the link in Satid's post, you should find it is not difficult.
Couple of points:
- When you run the command CHGOBJC to create the ObjectConnect server and user profile QOBJC, it creates the file QUSRSYS/QATMOBJC which is the ObjectConnect config file.
One thing I am trying to find more info on are the parameters DCSENDSIZE and DCRECVSIZE which default to 262144 (256K) and 8388608 (8MB) respectively.
@Satid, do you have any information on the relevance of these two parameters please?
- We have also configured Virtual Ethernet for the use of SAVRST* commands between LPARs on the same Power9 server. But using Virtual Ethernet we found the transmission speed quite slow, at around 199Mb/sec. But using FTP we got just over 900 Mb/sec.
More experimenting required. IBM does state however that ObjectConnect is not a "performance enhancement product". See

Above sentence is somewhat misleading because it is necessary to assign a certificate.
One of my customer decided to stay with EE because it is much easier to configure and they use ObjectConnect on secured N/W.

Dear Heye
If you Google with "ibm i objectconnect tcp", you will find the following IBM Support Information that guides you through the setup steps you need : https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/object-connect-now-runs-over-tcpip-server-strtcpsvrobjc

We want to setup ObjectConnect over (secure) TCP/IP
(we have it already running with SNA over TCP/IP).
The IBM i documentation is very limited en certain HTTP links are dead.
(For example click on the link 'ObjectConnect Server' in step 1)
Does anyone has an step by step manual or link to configure this?
