    What are the potential pitfalls for LPMing across Datacenter, if customer has synchronous storage replication set up and dark fiber between datacenters.

    Hi Jayesh,

    I did a test on this matter (two storage systems accross datacentres, synchronous replication, different SAN fabrics connected to Power boxes ) and asked IBM why it failed. They said LPM expects SAN fabric and storage ports to be the same, so I suppose LPM could be improved to support this scenario. It would be great if IBM could make that happen!

    Hi Jayesh, 

    Once the conditions for LPM are met, the primary challenge in performing LPM across Datacenters is that the LPAR continues to operate with the disks located in the other, remote Datacenter (lowerperformance). This issue can be circumvented by employing a Hyperswap solution (applicable for IBM DS8000 or IBM Flash Systems) or a Stretched Cluster for SVC.
