  • 1.  Is openpyxl module available on the OSS IBM i?

    Posted Mon January 16, 2023 06:20 PM
    Hi,

As I understand it openpyxl is a dependency of Pandas and I was expecting it to be installed when I installed Pandas.
    It turns out it didn't.

Is openpyxl available on the IBM i and in that case how can it be installed?

Thanks in advance for your help,
    Paulo

    Dear Paulo

I notice this group is about IBM i ACS tool but openpyxl is a Python library to read/write Excel 2010 xlsx/xlsm/xltx/xltm files. These two products are not related in any way. You may get a better chance for an answer if you post this question in IBM i Global group instead. I know a few people who run Phython on IBM i are member of that group and they may respond to you.

But let me give you my guess first.   Since Phython support in IBM i runs in PASE and it is the same Phython for AIX, you should look for openpyxl from open source web sites and installed in to Phython that runs in IBM i.   Does this web site helps?  https://openpyxl.readthedocs.io/en/stable/

The answer is that openpyxl is NOT available on IBM i environment itself but you can obtain and install it for Phython environment that runs in IBM i. If you have more questions, please post it in IBM i Global group.

    Thank you Satid!
I will go ahead and post it in the IBM i Global group instead as I have some questions about installing modules outside the ACS SSH environment.
