    Hello Experts,

I have a issue with one of the Canon printer (iR-ADV C5255 / iR-ADV C5255), where the printer is not printing at all. I tried multiple options from changing Manufacturing type and model to *LEXMARKC750 , *HPCOLORLJ, *HP. But nothing worked out. The System driver program is set to *IBMSNMPDRV. Any other drivers that I can try ? As soon as I start the writer RP60, The status of file changes to WTR and after a while the writer ends.

The only error that customer reported is "low on toner".

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Avinash

    Dear Avinash

You can do a Google search as IBM provides comprehensive support information on using various printer brands with IBM i.  For example, if you Google  with "ibm i printer canon", you will see this URL in the result as a good starting point :  https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/information-printers-canon

From the table for CANON printer support with IBM i in this URL, you will see an entry for "Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5255" and it appears NOT to be supported.  You may need to use the models indicated as supported and also note how it is supported and use one of the manners in which it is supported.

    Avinash,

Here is the IBM table for support for this printer. It shows that the C5255 is supported for "PCL5/PCL6 (Optional)" but this model of Canon printer would require the PCL Printer Kit-AR1 accessory. If you had the C5255i model, it apparently includes the PCL Kit. If you have the PCL functionality, both are only supported using LPR (remote output queue) or SNMP.

The complete list of printers for Canon support is here: Information on Printers from Canon (ibm.com)
Cannon support: Support | Multifunction Copiers | imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5255 | Canon USA

Some other settings that can affect reports not printing for a Canon are the power saving settings and the paper type. If you have other Canon printers that work, check the actual printer settings to see how they are setup. I have had to change both of the power saver settings on the printer as well as the paper type. Sometimes plain-2 (81-90 g/m2) will work, for other printers plain-1 (64-80 g/m2) will work.
