    Hi everyone,

I'm a novice with IBM System I and I'm working with an As400/I5 OS,

I'm having an issue with a network printer:

each morning the system does a backup job, temporarily disabling all the client sessions, after that, one of the printers (called "PRT017") doesn't print anymore,

when doing the "wrkwtr" command the printer shows the "GALL" state:

I've already tried the help of the system (F1) but it doesn't say anything about this state,

usually to resolve I do 4(shut down) and then 11(restart) and it starts printing again,

does anyone know how to solve this? thanks a lot:-)

Looking at this screen in English on i7.4 it would appear the "Tipo mod." column is the Form Type, not status. "Stato" is the status?? and appears to be showing "Ready". I don't speak Italian (?) so I'm depending on Google Translate here! As for why the printer won't print I have seen this problem many times (though not in recent years) and there has never been an explanation... unless the printer is out of paper or turned off or some other problem with the printer device. If it starts printing after restart it is likely this same issue. You will probably need to look at Printing PTFs to see if there is a resolution. Or perhaps someone else has a better explanation!

I'm relying on Google translate as well and like Gary posted it appears that is the 'Form Type' column. My guess is that for some reason the 'GALL' should be showing '*ALL' and the asterisk isn't displaying properly. Are there any messages waiting for this writer? I have seen cases where the message is answered to allowing printing the current document and the printer will display a message for the next document due to the prior response.

Another thing you can check (if this is a network connected printer) there may be a web page at the ip address for it. If you open that up you can see if there are any issues with the actual printer.

    Dear Gabriele

Another thing you can try is, in the morning when you arrive, run the command DSPMSG QSYSOPR and then browse the messages backwards in time (Page Up) and identify any messages about PRT07 and analyze what happened to it.
