AIX

We're trying to get Cognos Analytics to use a PostgreSQL database as a data source on AIX.  We were able to connect to the PostgreSQL database on the command line using unixODBC (for AIX toolbox).  However, we couldn't connect through the Cognos interface or create a working data source.  Per the documentation ( https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/cognos-analytics/11.0.0?topic=sudcrd-access-odbc-data-sources-unix-linux-operating-systems ), it looks like we're supposed to be using iODBC rather than unixODBC.  The documentation says, "On UNIX operating systems, the open source iODBC driver manager is provided as part of the IBM Cognos installation".  However, we're not finding it anywhere on the system.  Unable to find the library, I tried building libiodbc from source code and using it instead.  Still unable to connect to the database.  Wanted to know if anyone else has set up connection to a database on AIX using iODBC or unixODBC for use with Cognos.  If so, what steps did you have to go through to get this working properly?  Thanks.

We've read the documentation on what's supported.  The problem isn't the driver, it's the driver manager iODBC.  That is not supplied by PostgreSQL or most other database projects.  As I mentioned the IBM states:  "On UNIX operating systems, the open source iODBC driver manager is provided as part of the IBM Cognos installation".  However, we are not seeing the iODBC driver manager installed anywhere on the system.

I think you should open a support case with Cognos if you are not seeing iODBC driver.

We opened a case.  IBM closed it without an answer.  We're going to try installing Cognos again from scratch and see if it gets installed this time.  If not, we'll try reopening the case.

I think you should open a support case with Cognos if you are not seeing iODBC driver.
