  • 1.  SET CHLAUTH syntax, need help

    Posted Mon September 11, 2023 11:42 AM

    $ runmqsc QM1

    SET CHLAUTH('ADMIN.CHAN') TYPE(BLOCKUSER) DESCR(' text inserted here') +USERLIST('nobody') ACTION(replace)

    I get syntax errors for this no matter how I alter the syntax.  I've removed the tick-marks, put spaces after and before parentheses, tried lower-case vs. upper-case.  I just keep getting syntax errors.  Can anyone point out the syntax error(s) I'm entering?  Thanks for any help!

    Why do you have a '+' sign in your command? it is not in multiple lines. The  '+' sign should only appear at the end of the line and is a continuation character meaning that the command is continued  on the next line. So remove the + between the description and the userlist... or hit return right after the '+' so that your command is on 2 lines...

    Hello Eric:

    The following tutorial has a concrete example of defining a server-connection channel and the CHLAUTH channel authentication records.
    See Chapter 3 in page 7.

    I hope that this is helpful.

    And the MQ Explorer has a wizard that takes you through the process of building the command, showing the final result that you can then copy/paste for future scripting.

    Thank you all.  Problem resolved!  I've been declared the MQ guy and have been given a set of how-to's that are full of issues like this.  Much appreciated.

    Hello Eric,

    Please, remove the plus sign (+) from before the USERLIST keyword.

    Kind regards!
