    Hi,

Need some clarificaton on what is Reserved Memory in DataPower X2 appliances.

When I checked it's size which is around 37GB, it was almost equal to File System size(Total Encrypted Space + Total Internal Space+ Total Temporary Space).

Can somone confirm if this is correct?

The calculation for memory that this status provider shows is documented.

    • Installed memory - The amount of physical memory in KB.
    • Total memory - The amount of installed memory in KB minus the amount of reserved memory.
    • Reserved memory - The amount of installed memory in KB minus the amount of total memory.

However, your question/concern is comparing memory to disk space used for file storage. Storage and memory are completely different resources. Therefore, explain your actual concern if there really is something more that you need.

Interesting.  I don't think I've ever tried to figure that one out.

I checked a large set of appliances, albeit, all virtual, and the numbers aren't close.

In my case, there seems to be a direct proportional relationship between total memory and reserved memory.  That is, in all the appliances I looked at, reserved memory was 22% of total memory.
