  • 1.  Ibm ACE operator version on Rancher

    Posted Wed September 28, 2022 11:42 PM
I have quick question on installing IBM ACE on Rancher

    - is it possible to install ACE operator version on Rancher ?
    - if yes, what's the storage class be expected? And how it can be configured on Rancher
    - can we be able to configure IBM ACE dashboard, PVC and PV, secrets , in the same way we do for CP4I on open shift or kubernetes?
    - Rancher is based on K3s , does it going to affect any of the ACE processing?
    - any technical documentation available for implementation of ACE( both helm and operator version) on Rancher?

    Thank you
    Preethi

    Hello Preethi,

The latest App Connect operator (CD) is supported on Kubernetes version 1.23. (*) The storage class you select (for the dashboard, I assume) depends on what is available in your environment. The dashboard needs RWX file based storage (ReadWriteMany).

In a non-OpenShift environment, the CP foundational services are not supported, which means you do not have the IAM and monitoring capabilities provided by those.

For details, here is a link to the IBM documentation: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/app-connect/container?topic=kubernetes-supported-operating-environment

(*) here is a list of the Certified Container versions and supported environments: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ibm-app-connect-enterprise-certified-container-versions

    Hello Preethi,

App Connect Enterprise certified container (ACEcc) releases are available as Kubernetes (and OpenShift) operators.

If you do not require the certified container support, as an option you can also build your own containers: https://github.com/ot4i/ace-docker

    Thank you Johan!
One more question, will there be difference in performance or ACE Operator setup while working on K3S kubernetes environment instead of k8s ?

    (Rancher is K3S kubernetes environment)
