  • 1.  How to put temporary under maintenance one DP that is part of a AO Self Balancing group ?

    Hi

We have 2 DPs physical appliances configured with AO Self Balancing (Active - Active).

I would like to make a maintenance of one DP. How can I prevent that the master active DP will redirect requests to the other DP that is under maintenance ?

I am interested in best practices/guidelines.

    Thanks in advance

    Regards

    Armand

    Hi Armand,

you can quiesce the appliance at the level that is fitting to your setup. Check out the following knowledge center links:

    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/datapower-gateways/10.0.1?topic=interfaces-standby-controls

In the Standby control documentation, it explains the difference between "standby" and "self-balancing".  Under "self-balancing" it discusses graceful vs non-graceful. If you're wanting to place the non-active member into maintenance, all should be good, for the active member detects other members as being unavailable. If you're wanting to place the active member into maintenance, you should use "yield-standby" on the active member to the group member with the next highest priority. You should be able to validate membership and states using the status providers.

You can also login via CLI and run:

    #show tcp-connections

And wait for the currently open connection to be cleaned before starting the maintenance

    Thanks!
