I have recently set up a Kubernetes cluster (version 1.25+) with Istio (version 1.15+), and I have followed the configuration guidelines provided by Instana documentation. Specifically, I have copied the tracing library to the sidecar image and updated the sidecar configuration to push telemetry data to the Instana agent.

However, despite following the documented steps, I have encountered an issue where the Envoy tracing for Instana does not seem to work as expected. I have raised support cases with IDs TS015397172 and TS013707331, and the support team has confirmed that Envoy tracing is not currently supported in the Kubernetes with Istio context.

It is noteworthy that, during my experimentation, I found that when I set up Istio to push data into the Instana agent via OpenTelemetry protocol, the solution works seamlessly. This leads me to suspect that the Instana Envoy tracing library may not be functioning correctly or may lack support for remote agents in this particular context.

Therefore, I kindly request your assistance in investigating and potentially enhancing the Instana Envoy tracing library's functionality to ensure compatibility with Kubernetes and Istio environments, specifically supporting remote agents.
