SA z/OS global variables. Are they sysplex-wide?

  • 1.  SA z/OS global variables. Are they sysplex-wide?

    I suspect I misread something in a manual but I was trying to get some clarification on a question.

    Are SA and/or Netview global variables shared across a sysplex?

    Specifically if I do this in an EXEC to alter the INGREQ_WAIT global does it affect all instances of SA in the sysplex or only the local LPAR where I make the change?

    INGREQ_WAIT = '180'

    'GLOBALV PUTC INGREQ_WAIT'

    Any help would be appreciated.

    The short answer is NetView and SA NetView global variables are NOT shared across a sysplex.  They are not even shared among multiple NetViews within a single system.  Global variables are only known to the local NetView on the local system.  So the documented ING* override clgobals must be defined on each SA NetView.

    Having said that, SA came out with special 'shared variables' that are shared across the SAplex within a sysplex.  The variables are managed by the SA Manager, and can be set, read, and deleted via the INGVARS command from any SA NetView within the SAPlex.
