  • 1.  SA BCPii Hardware Validation and GDPS BCPII connection

Hi - need help, Am running IBM SA on 4.2 and GDPS 4.4, lately am experiencing a problem where it might be IBM SA and/or GDPS trying/fighting to establish BCPII connection with the processor, as a result either its taking lot of time to properly initialize for GDPS (BCPII interface) though I can see in the log for the message GEO918I GDPS initialization completed successfully for all phases...

I cannot LOAD the system in the local or remote processors using GDPS, even I tried setting the variable - AOF_AAO_HW_VALIDATION = NO ( in local PARM) so, IBM SA doesn't interrupt GDPS establishing the connection. but its still not helping...please if you have any inputs let me know if there's work around for this.

    Thank you
    Anil

    Hello Anil !

I am not sure if I understood everything correctly in your post. If you defined a processor for INTERNAL(BCPii) in the SA PDB and you have a matching entry in your GDPS domain definitions, which are now in GDPS XML outside of SA, a msgING825I is issued at SA start, indicating that GDPS can now request to obtain control of any SA PDB defined processors which match to the processors defined in the GEO-XML and at GDPS initialization loaded intothe  GEO Cglobal VPC_CPC_LIST. If GDPS picks a processor to obtain control, this processor will not be used/initialized by SA. So i recommend to open a a service case and have the appropriate netlogs available.   Regards.......Matthias

Hi Matthias - thank you for responding, yes the definition entries for CPCs in SA PDB and the GDPS CPC_LIST always match, the ING825I was never issued and though GDPS says successfully initialized for all phases(GEO918I GDPS INITIALIZATION COMPETED SUCCSSFULLY FOR ALL PHASES), but phase 3 initialization never happens.

I found below, may be that's what we need to apply to fix it ?

    thanks !

    Hi Anil !
If OA62617 is missing, i recommend to install/appy it, even if according to you post GDPS says all 3 phases are done and the Apar description clearly indicates that it fixes issues, where GDPS phase 3 never initializes because of missing ING825I. Let's see if it changes things in your evironment. If not as already recommended, open a case. Regards.....Matthias

    Hello,
Sorry for the interruption but I hit literally the same problem about GDPS initialization about phase 3 and GDPS team advised me to apply below APAR.

    Hope this might be helpful.
