Yesterday IBM announced a new release of IBM Z System Automation V4.2 which was formerly called IBM System Automation for z/OS.
The new release will have GA on December 6, 2019.
IBM Z System Automation V4.2 includes the following enhancements, besides other new features:
- An intuitive and modernized user experience for application groups by introducing a new application group model
- New capabilities in the Customization Dialog to more efficiently and intuitively define messages and their criteria related to alerting and event management
- The capability for ad-hoc automation of dynamically provisioned resources (such as CICS regions, IMS message processing regions, and similar workloads) that are based on application templates
- IBM z15 exploitation support for activating a temporary capacity record in support of System Recovery Boost to add reserved zIIP processors through the System Automation Base Control Program Internal Interface (SA-BCPii) via GDPS or through Processor Operations and automated triggering of System Recovery Boost at the begin of a system shutdown phase initiated by System Automation or via GDPS
- Full end-to-end automation support that uses the Universal Automation Adapter of Service Management Unite to start, stop, and monitor resources on non-z/OS platforms, such as Linux and Windows
In addition new releases of IBM Z Service Management Suite V1.6 and IBM Z Service Automation Suite V1.2 were announced, which also will have GA on December 6, 2019.
