    I'm following the tutorial at
    https://community.ibm.com/community/user/hybriddatamanagement/blogs/michelle-betbadal1/2020/04/29/getting-started-with-ibm-data-server-provider-for

    but I have an error
"ERROR [42968] [IBM] SQL1598N  An attempt to connect to the database server failed because of a licensing problem.  SQLSTATE=42968"
using the IBM.EntityFrameworkCore package from nuget.

As far as I understand I'm missing some "DB connect" license, what's that?
    There's a trial version?

    Hi,
yes, you need to have a license to connect to zOS and IBM i data servers. Can you please send us a request through the NuGet package's message option? We will connect with you to provide you a trial license and any further details.

    Thanks
    Vishwa

    Hi Cesar,
yes, it is the db2 connect and it should be inside the license folder of NuGet package.

    Thanks

    Hi Raghavanantham,
if you have purchased Db2Connect, please check with your IBM contact for further details on the license.

For trial license, please use 'Contact owners' option in NuGet repository. When you contact, please let us know the details of the IBM Data Server to which you are trying to connect.

    Thanks
    Vishwa

    Hi Vishwanatha,

We are currently migrating all applications from .Net Framework to .Net Core and were are experiencing this licensing problem connecting to i Series.

In the past we could perfectly connect in .Net Framework using the IBM.Data.DB2.iSeries.dll.

This one came with the Client Access installation and didn't come with an additional cost.

Now while migrating it seems we need to purchase an extra license ... ??

Not only we (developers) but also all our clients having an IBM i Series server.

I don'n know the exact pricing but our supplier said it wasn't cheap.

Why this sudden change in strategy ? And is there an alternative for connecting iSeries from .Net Core ?

    Friendly regards,

    Frederick
