Monitoring a DPF Datawarehouse System with DMC

    Hello DMC Support Team,

after configuring our biggest database for monitoring with DMC we have a lot of problems to see metrics and figures.
Sometime all charts except the "Responsiveness" are empty or not complete:

Also we see a long runtime for DMC statements for monitoring the database:
All event monitors are enabled. Disabling some of them, I have the same problems.
The database 11.5.7.0 (DPF) has 6 Partitions and a size of 16TB.

    Best regards,
    Joachim

    Hello Joachim,
    Questions:
    - Do you see data in the Package Cache or In-flight execution tabs?
    - Do you have any errors in the monitor.* log files under <DMC_install>/logs directory?
Usually missing information for a database, could be several reasons.  The most common reasons are:
    1. Missing privileges to run table functions on the monitored database.  You would probably see -551 or -1092 SQL codes in the monitor log files.
    2. Missing some configuration on the monitored database, as described in the DMC manual at: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/db2-data-mgr-console/3.1.x?topic=tasks-setting-database-parameter-values
    3. Something happened to the DMC server, like crashing with out of memory errors
Unfortunately without the log files, it is hard to understand what could be the problem just looking at your screen shot.

For the long query, if it is collecting data from ADMIN_GET_TAB_INFO, this is a known query that it could run for a while:
    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/db2-data-mgr-console/3.1.x?topic=console-limitations-known-issues
We use that query to collect table storage information.
You can disable the query by running the REST API:

If you still have the problem, please create a case and send us the DMC collector so we can take a look at your log files.
    Thanks!
