  • 1.  Win2k/4.1.4.1 upgrade to Win2k3/4.2.1

    We’re planning to upgrade from Tamino version 4.1.4.1 on a Win2k Server (Standard Edition) to 4.2.1 or rather to 4.2.1.07 on a new Win2k3 Server (Standard Edition). Could we do this with a simple backup procedure of the database on the old Win2k server followed by a restore on the new Win2k3 server? I searched this forum but cannot find previous related questions/answers. Is this an upgrade-route that will work? Any hints, tips or things to avoid would be much appreciated.     Hi Bart, >> Is this an upgrade-route that will work? No You will need to migrate the v4.1 database(s) to v4.2 on your Win2K server first. You need to perform the migration on a system where both versions are installed (required). Tamino v4.1.4 was not released on Win2k3 so you need to perform this on the Win2K system. After you have migrated the database(s) to v4.2, then you can backup the database(s) and restore it/them on the new Win2k3 system where Tamino version 4.2.1.7 is installed. Install Update 5 for Tamino v4.1.4 before starting the migration of the database with “Set Version”. Also have Update 7 for v4.2.1 installed on both systems. Backup the database(s) BEFORE starting the migration. Rob
