    Hello Guys,
Out of below, which Industry Solutions are Supported for Maximo Anywhere?
    1. HSE
    2. Oil & Gas
    3. Calibration
    4. ACM
    5. Aviation
    6. Nuclear
    7. Transportation

I always have a laugh when I hear people asking "what industry solutions does Maximo Anywhere support".  Why do you ask? Simply, industry solutions for the most part seem to have never been a focus for Maximo Anywhere.

But wait isn't there anything.  Yes is the answer.

    You have:
    • Incident Reporter to support the Maximo HSE, and Oil and Gas
    • Operator Rounds to support Maximo for Nuclear
    • IBM Maximo for Aviation Anywhere Electronic Flight Log Book supporting Maximo for Aviation
    • IBM Maximo Anywhere Work Execution for Aviation supporting Maximo for Aviation
    • IBM Maximo Anywhere Work Execution for Complex Assets for Maximo ACM

Short list, eh!  Why, well it seems that other solutions or even the bits of them that may seem mildly useful to be mobilised have not been pushed by the user community enough.

Two simple examples: Linear and Permits.

At the moment, there is not going to be much more development in the Maximo Anywhere space, so now with Maximo Mobile, it in theory is more wide open.  So if you want to see a feature, function, or anything to support your Maximo become standard, raise an RFE with IBM and get all of us, your colleagues and customers to vote on it.

I hope I haven't missed any of the industry solution and that I've answered your question.

Craig is spot on. The one I could think of that he missed was Calibration is functionality inside Nuclear & Life Sciences (which is really just Calibration with validation scripts) that is also supported inside of the standard Work Execution application. It's not Nuclear specific, but I felt since Nuclear unlocked that functionality (it's not included in core Maximo) it could be relevant.

You can add smaller things, such as some of the industry solution attributes, pretty easily but any large piece of functionality (especially if it needs to work offline) would require a good amount of effort to support.

All and None.  Hahahahaha... Both Craig and Stephen are correct.  The Industry solutions team are each provided the Maximo Anywhere application platform and the product management team (used to be offering management, and was product management before that, I expect THAT to change in a year or so....) is free to develop and bring to market anything they believe their clients need.

The believe on the part of product management is based on market feedback with respect to the ability of the software to deliver.  With Maximo Anywhere the market indicated a need for the apps which Craig described.  BTW with respect to Transportation, the only request I have seen is to enable the use of Alias on the Work Execution.  Was not difficult but did take some time.

So, with Maximo Mobile on the market now, time to take your suggestions to the RFE portal and get them in, have your friends and colleagues vote on them and queue them up.  Without your input the development will pass you by.

    Thanks for the information.

In regards to the RFE Portal when something is declined/doesn't fit what IBM wants to do how do we as the customers encourage IBM that it is something that is needed ?

Example: I've added RFE's in for anywhere to support more then just the default bins for Anywhere inventory related apps and it was rejected. Is it because IBM is moving towards a new mobile framework ? Did I not include enough information (I was never contacted for additional information or clarification) ? Is the RFE too complex ? Did the RFE not have enough votes ? Is there not enough developer time to complete the RFE in question ? Is it already on a list for future development ? Or is there some other reason(s) for rejection.

There is no way to get feedback on why something was rejected or to conversely have a conversation written or spoken. An example of this is RFE:143209. It was rejected we were unable to move ahead and go live with this app and I have no means to talk to someone to understand why only the default bins will only ever be used in this apps.

In the past I've attempted to use the "reconsideration" tab on RFE's only to have it fall into the black hole and get rejected with no information.

Depending on when you placed your RFE, it could very well have to do with the fact that IBM will not be spending new development monies on Maximo Anywhere, for any new features/ capabilities.  The money is being invested in the new Mobile Maximo technology, for a lot of good reasons.

With respect to your investment in the Maximo Anywhere technology, IBM will certainly be supporting that product for many years. After looking at your RFE I would encourage you to customize this.  Do you currently use a domain for bins in core?  If so then the lookups you mention do not come that way OOTB, and in Maximo Anywhere can indeed be added through configuration.  This is relatively cheap to do.

Also, you ask that the bin lookup "should be based off the itemnum provided."  This means a conditional lookup based on the itemnum.  That is code that is required to perform that capability in Anywhere and is more expensive than just the domain lookup (if you are using a domain.)  Either you did that with an automation script (or more likely a conditional expression) in core Maximo.  Again not OOTB stuff, just front end configuration in the tool.  OK. That is fine.

A good Maximo Anywhere practitioner could design, develop and deliver this for you.  There are many out there and who have taken the IBM Skill badge which tells you they know what they are doing.  I developed that course along with others.  So if you need help in finding the right team to assist you, you have resources.
