    A correctly-mirrored rootvg would have quorum turned off so loosing 1 disk wouldn't loose the quorum and you technically don't "loose" VGDAs. If you want to know how many VGDAs a rootvg with 2 disks has, the answer is 3. A VG with 1 disk always has 2 VGDAs while a VG with 2 disks has 3 VGDAs. VGs with more than 2 disks have the same number of VGDAs as the number of hdisks.

    You should read the Redbooks suggested by Delgato to understand more about quorum and VGDA.
