You are asking the difference between "update volume" and "reclaim stgpool" commands?

If Yes the difference is everything. Update vol is a command to change te access of a volume (readw, reado, unava, destroyed).

Reclamation is a command to free volumes that are with low usage (high reclaim pct). It will turn volumes scratch to reuse.

To elabourate further on Marcel's answer, the reclaimation he is referring to would copy the data from low-utilization media to free them up. It's important to point out that no data would be lost. If you need more info on this process let us know.
