I tried "vmstat" and "lparstat" commands but I need more info.

I read about HMC to get the above info. What is HMC and how can I get to it? (I am totally new to this, so pardon the ignorance).

    lsrsrc IBM.ManagementServer

where <xxx> is the value of Name or Hostname from the lsrsrc IBM.ManagementServer output.

You can read more about HMC here.

How ever I am unable to login! :-(

Question 1: The server I am trying to get LPAR info about is, lets call it Server A. When the HMC login page showed up (its version V7R3.5.0.2), I notice the browser title shows ServerB:HMC

Can the HMC be on a different server?

Question 2: I am unable to login to HMC using credentials of Server A. (I ran the lparstat commands by puttying into Server A using the same credentials). Am I missing something?

    Thanks again for the help!

Maybe you should find a sys admin at your location who can login.

It is possible to setup LDAP on the HMC which would allow you to use your serverA credentials but it doesn't sound like you have HMC access.

The HMC manages your p/series IBM boxes and provides the mgmnt interface for instantiating LPARS.

It's an x/series box running IBM Linux that sits int he same rack and talks to the VIO2 cards in each POWER box via private ethernet
