The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has embraced IoT and we have a lot of energy being spent in developing new use cases.
This was supurred on by one of our hydrologists designing and building his own remote sensor for storm water monitoring in remote areas of the south east of the state. The device was built and installed for 10% of the cost of a COTS product, was better becasue he added a solar battery charger, and with the first storm we had in the area afterwards, he saved the costs of the device, becasue it saved him a 4 hour round trip to the remote site. Normally he would have judged the storm as one where ahe would expect the sample bottle to be filled, but hius sensors told him it was still empty.
The assessment was tha the surrounding soil was so dry that the rainwater was all absorbed, rather than floooding the wash.
What else is everyone doing?
