  • 1.  WAS & RBD Upgrade

    Looking for a recommendation for upgrading the deployment platform for applications generated from RBD 8.0.1.3.

    The applications are currently deployed on : ZOS CICS TS 3.1 and WAS 7.0.0.29 on Win 2003.

    I plan to first upgrade to a new version of WAS V? running on Win2008 SE, with new CTG version. Then upgrade to ZOS CICS to 5.1

    Followed by an upgrade to RBD to V? and Team Concert V?.

    Any thoughts welcome.

    John,

    My suggestion is to go to recent levels of the various products.

    RBD supports up through WAS 8.5.5, the latest levels of CICS, and COBOL V5.1.   We ship CTG V9.0.0.2 with RBD for development purposes.

    The latest RBD release is RBD 9.1.1, so would suggest you looking at that.

    Anytime you upgrade and use generated COBOL on CICS, you should make sure the Rational COBOL Runtime product (i.e. EGL COBOL runtime) is upgraded to the latest PTF level.  This is found on the RBD fixlist page in the zSeries PTF list tab
