I wana clarify something about servicing hardware on VIOS configuration.

If i had a problematic HDD on RAID, or any other hardware that are virtual to the client partitions, the procedure to replace a HDD concurrently will be the same as standart routine type "diag" from VIOS, etc, or its any additional step to be done from the client partitions?

I wana be sure for this as we are going to make a replacement on a production machine with 1 VIOS and 4 AIX partitions.

    Regards,

Yeap. Let's say you have a RAID adapter with several disks connected to this one. You have created at least one raid disk (RAID5, RAID10) and you have just created a storage pool and some logical volumes on this raid disk. You have also created virtual scsi server adapters to house your virtual lpars. Now one of your disk is damaged. You can use the diag program to get into the raid adapter menu in order to change that faulty disk without need to stop your VIOS.

    Hope this helps
