We are just starting out with Apptio and I've been tasked with pulling together the Vendor Insight - Contract and associated ARC/RRC information. I have a couple of questions about how to deal with contracts in Apptio

1) If I have a contract that I renew do I create a new contract for the renewed agreement with new Start & End Dates etc or update the existing contract. My thinking is that we create a new contract under the vendor, but are there any gotcha's later down the line in terms of mapping to applications and IT Towers that I should consider?

2) We have a couple of big multi year outsourcing agreements - one of them has costs that decrease through the life of the contract split into separate lines for different services. I've created a hierarchy of contracts MSA -> Service -> Service (Year 1) -> Line 1, each Line level contract lasts for a year. The gotcha is that the single lines appear in the contract expiration, but I'm interested in making sure we are monitoring the spend against the correct year in the agreement. Does anybody have a view on this and whether there is a better way to do this
