I'm trying to figure out how to configure SUMA to work through a caching proxy -- to both cache and proxy. A client has multiple AIX machines, not all connected directly to the Internet; so SUMA is configured to connect through an HTTP proxy. The client also has limited network bandwidth, so they want to cache filesets locally..

This worked in early AIX 6.1 TLs, because SUMA fetched filesets with HTTP GET requests. The proxy no longer caches, apparently because SUMA fetches filesets with HTTP POST requests. I considered using FTP and an FTP cache like Frox, but the FTP option disappeared at some point.

The environment is mostly recent TLs of AIX 6.1 and 7.1. The current proxy server is Squid, but that could be changed.

    So the question is...

How do we make this work? Or is it now impossible? (Or ridiculously difficult?) Should we be hunting an alternate approach?

    Thanks for any assistance!
