  • 1.  Using RD&T to test ALCS applications

    IBM'S Rational Developer & Test allows testing of Cics, IMS apps, etc  on an x86 platform.  

    We are investigating whether an ALCS environment on RD&T is feasible to help us offload development

    1.  Has anyone tried this?

    2.  Is there any reason why an ALCS on z/os would not run in a ALCS/RD&T environment?

    ALCS on z/OS on RD&T should functionally work the same as it does on native hardware.  I can't speak for how well it might perform since I don't know what the application profile looks like.  You also need to ensure you are licensed to use ALCS on RD&T.

    We have done a proof of concept of ALCS on RD&T and it went well. If you have a specific need for ALCS dev and test on RD&T, please work through your IBM sales rep.
