    • Internal Reference Support Case TS003314422.

Their environment has applications certified on perl 5.10.1. The recent update to AIX 7100-05-05-1939 updated to perl.rte 5.28  which caused application reressions.

They have referred to the  AIX Perl Updates and Support for perl.rte technote. They are aware of the support considerations for perl.rte versus perl.rpm, and are working to address application requirements.

    The technote states:

*** Deprecations introduced by newer perl releases might cause issues for customer applications that still rely on earlier AIX perl.rte versions

    • Since newer versions often include fixes for vulnerabilities, and AIX Perl applications are tested on the version shipped with the TL, IBM does not provide nor support lower perl.rte versions.

    • Customers can generally locate older Perl RPM packages on the AIX Toolbox for Linux® download site.

REQUEST: There is no 5.10.1 version available in this directory. This customer has hundreds of lpars to downgrade, and has made a request for special consideration to provide this 5.10.1 perl.rpm.

We discussed this today in our monthly meeting.  This image is in the process of being added to the repo, but this is not instantaneous. I forgot to ask how long this turnaround is, I'll update this thread when I have this info!
