    Posted Mon December 21, 2020 11:55 PM

    Hello,

I am new in deployment scenario. I have a QRadar 7.3.1 all in one box. I am planning to upgrade it to 7.4.2. But i am confuse as it seems like i need to upgrade the current installation to 7.3.2 path 3 or later version. so i am planning to go for 7.3.3, to do this should i go with iso file or sfs file?

I couldn't find any detailed material to follow. any direction would be appreciable .Thank you.

    Hello Ahmad,

in the meantime maybe you've found an answer to your question elsewhere. If not, in addtion here a possible upgrade path regarding to your subject:

    Scenario 1:

Like specified in the release note for upgrading QRadar from Release 7.3.1 https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/release-qradar-v740-sfs-740-qradar-qrsiem-20200304205308, you are able to upgrade to 7.4.0 using a sfs file.

    Scenario 2:

If you like to upgrade to 7.3.3 first, then follow the upgrade guide https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SS42VS_7.3.3/com.ibm.qradar.doc/b_qradar_upgrade.pdf

If you want to upgrade from Release 7.3.3 to Release 7.4.2 please make sure, you are on Release 7.3.3FP5. This allows you also to upgrade to 7.4.2 using a sfs file instead of the iso file!

From this point please follow details listed here:

    https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/release-qradar-742-sfs-742-qradar-qrsiem-20201113144954 to 7.4.2.

The following stated upgrade options below should be possible for you using sfs files:

    • upgrade from 7.3.1 to 7.3.3FP5 or 7.4.0
    • and then from 7.3.3FP5 or 7.4.0 upgrade to 7.4.2

    Hope this helps.

In the end a backup is always a good choise as well.

    Regards,

    Ralph
