  • 1.  Upgrade V8.1 to V8.2

    Hello,
    Let me ask two questions about the upgrade from V8.1 to V8.2.

    Q1. Output file by Usage Monitor
    Our customer is using temporary output file (PS file) for Usage Monitor to make their custom report. They are not using Db2 and SQLite for reporting and they made the reporting program from temporary output file by themselves.  
    Is there any diffirent data format in temporary putput file between V8.1 and V8.2?
    Or would you provide the data format information for V8.2?
     
    Q2. z/OS support
    They are thinking to use TADz V8.1 on z/OS V2.5 for the short term during upgrade project. Is TADz V8.1 supported on z/OS V2.5?

    Hi Takako san,

    To answer your questions:

    1. Yes the layouts have changed in the Usage Monitor between 8.1 and 8.2. There have been a number of additions. Can I ask what fields is your customer using? Is it just the *D records that they are using? If so they they are the same but with some data being collected. This new data is from the *D4 records where extra information is captured. 
    2. TADz 8.1 is supported on z/OS 2.5

    Thank you for your help.

    I've confirmed that our customer is using the following columns in *D records;
    From Header record ... SYS
    From Data record ... MOD_NAME, JOB_NAME, USER_ID, DATE, JOB_ID, TIME, CALL_COUNT, VOLSER and LIBRARY_NAME
     
    Would you tell me which column was changed between V8.1 and V8.2?

    Hi Takako,

    Looking at the layouts as far as the *D records are concerned they are the same however some of the fields with the same names have been repurposed. these fields were never imported into the database amyway and were only viewable via the Monitor Detail report.

    Job-Day-Ct<TotalTCB><TCB-onCP><Offldabl><ElapActv><RealNm><Caller>

    These fields are way on the right hand side of the data so normally are not viewable unless you scroll across. the Caller field is not used yet. There have been additions to the records to have new fields for APF Authorised but it looks like your customer is not interested in the data anyway.

    I understand that the field which our customer is using are not changed in spite of some updates in the right side.
    They will try using the same program to access them, and let me get back to you if necessary.
