  • 1.  Unable to open file

    Posted Mon November 09, 2020 08:07 AM

I have a code from school, which didn't open, so I decided to take a chance on your direct IBM program. This didn't open either. My computer downloads the file, but then tells me I need to switch out off "S" mode to open this file. If I do that all my firewalls etc are destroyed. No matter what I try (run as administrator, run trouble shoot etc) nothing works to open this file, either from school or from you.

Even if I decided to "switch out off S" mode, it is no easy task, there is no button you can just push to agree to that. I need help fast please.

    Thank you

    Ulrike

    Hi Support Member

"S" Mode seems specific to Microsoft Windows. Here is a knowledgebase article from Microsoft discussing it:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-10-in-s-mode-faq-851057d6-1ee9-b9e5-c30b-93baebeebc85

It seems your issue is that you are trying to install software from another source (IBM) than Microsoft, and you have your Microsoft Windows instalation configured to only allow installation from Microsoft. You will have to allow other sources, like IBM, to get the product installed.
