  • 1.  Trying to install iperf3, Failed dependencies

    Posted Thu October 05, 2023 01:50 AM

    Hi,

    I need to install iperf3 on IBMi.

    I followed steps described in https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ibm-aix-performance-analysis-using-iperf

    But I'm unable to install due to failed dependencies.

    There is the output.

    -bash-5.1$ rpm -Uvh iperf3-3.10.1-1.aix6.1.ppc.rpm
    error: Failed dependencies:
            AIX-rpm >= 5.2.0.0 is needed by iperf3-3.10.1-1.ppc
            libc.a(shr.o) is needed by iperf3-3.10.1-1.ppc
            libc.a(shr_64.o) is needed by iperf3-3.10.1-1.ppc
            libcrypto.a(libcrypto.so.1.0.2) is needed by iperf3-3.10.1-1.ppc
            libgcc >= 8.3.0-1 is needed by iperf3-3.10.1-1.ppc
            libgcc_s.a(shr.o) is needed by iperf3-3.10.1-1.ppc
            libsctp.a(shr.o) is needed by iperf3-3.10.1-1.ppc
            libsctp.a(shr_64.o) is needed by iperf3-3.10.1-1.ppc

    Thank's for any help.

    I didn't see that you are trying in IBM i. AIX rpms will not install in IBM i.

    We encounter some issues accessing our As400 from Windows (OLEDB) via a VPN connection.

    We dit some benchmark between client computer and some server in the LAN.

    Now, we need to benchmark AS400 ethernet quality ...

    That's why we tried to install iperf3.

    Is there another way to run iPerf on AS400 ?

    You can check IBM i repo here --> https://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/ibmi/products/pase/rpms/repo/ppc64/  for any relevant tools.
    You can also check this doc --> https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/i/7.5?topic=support-ethernet-capabilities
