    Ok this is a weird one, I've got a system running 5.3 and SWAT has been running just fine. Nothing has been updated or changed but suddenly SWAT does not respond. The connection is made but nothing is returned, running swat -V on the command line just results in it hanging with no return until I ctrl-C. This is a strange one, Samba is working completely fine, smbd and nmbd are fine just swat seems down for the count.

    Anyone have any idea how to debug this situation? I've checked for any running versions of swat that might be hanging but there's nothing. I'm close to just scheduling a reboot of the machine on the theory that something is hung that I can't see.

    Ok so please disregard this problem. It was late and I wasn't thinking through all the possibilities. We had a badly behaving proxy on our network that block access to swat on this particular machine.
