cause we change some aix servers to SOA/SOX-capabilities, the logging of syslogd should run no more local, but on a remote logserver.
This runs fine on all machines > AIX 5.1, on some AIX 5.1 boxes Ican do the entry in syslog.conf, then syslogd stops and we are not able to start it again.
The entry in syslog.conf looks like e.g.

    auth.debug @ip-address of logserver

Yes, I know 5.1 is history, but because of the application, an update is not possible

Everyone out there, who have noticed the same behaviour ?
Is there any solution for this problem ?

    Thx in advance
    Friedhelm

Place the hostname of the remote logserver instead of the ip-address - that's it
