  • 1.  SPSS 26 licensing bug

    Posted Tue September 22, 2020 07:43 PM

When in the SPSS 26 licensing wizard, it tells me i need administrator privileges (this is my personal mac so I know this is not the issue). I found a forum about this bug but 1) the link provided is broken and 2) there is no solution offered for version 26. Please help.

This is not a bug, indeed you have not enough permissions on your Mac when you get the warning "You do not have the correct administrator privileges

    "

See below article for steps. For release 26 you can use the same as for release 25 but change 25 to 26 of course

I have tried this and it does not work. I enter the exact same code into the terminal and it does not resolve my problem.

then you need to request to have the license code created for you manually. to do so open the ticket with the option below. In the ticket you need to provide your 20 digit authorization code, the lock code of your machine (this is displayed on step 2 of the SPSS license authorization wizard and provide info on which exact Mac OSX version you have installed and that you want to have the license code created manually.

    Dear SPSS user,

Due to privacy issues, SPSS Licensing requests which require exchange of confidential information such as IBM Customer Number, Authorization Code, email address, etc... need to be handled through either a normal Support ticket via link above or via the SPSS Licensing support page.

    Go to:

    https://www.ibm.com/mysupport/s/topic/0TO500000001xvJGAQ/spss-licensing

Use the blue button called “Open a case to get help with SPSS License issues” to open a case. Include all required information (e.g. authorization code, lock-code, product version, ...) such that we can immediately process your request.

    regards, IBM SPSS Technical Support

Thank you for that suggestion, but I tried opening a ticket before I came here but was told I could not open a ticket because I was a student and didn't have a faculty or business license. I spent two days trying to open a ticket and was told to seek help on these forums instead. There has to be another option to reach out to me directly since I cannot open a ticket.
