    problem:
    There is a Logical Disk for p650(aix5.1) on FAStT500,Windows 2003 prompt find new disk and "Initialize new disks" When windows2003 Start ,then I select "Initialize new disks" because of my mistake ,the Logical disk,however, is not used for windows2003 but for p650 (aix5.1). Now there are a error "0516-013 varyonvg: The volume group cannot be varied on because there are no good copies of the descriptor area" when I varyonvg on p650. All data are lost!!!!

    Everybody help me!

    I am thinking you are SOL. When Windows initializes new disk, it is corrupted from AIX point of view. I do not think there is anything you can do to recover except rebuild volume group and restore.

    Your volume group is unrecoverable. Windows disk manager - which is really an OEM of VERITAS disk manager, cannot coexist with AIX LVM since they use the same sectors of the disk to record header information.

    You will need to rebuild the volume group and restore from a backup.
