Can someone give me some guidance as to what I need to do in order to deactivate 3 of the CPU's, please?

I have some general instructions below.  The first step says to 'shut down the server'.   How do you do this?  How will I know which CPU's to deactivate.

    To Deconfigure processors

    1. Shut down the server

    2. At the Service Processor Main Menu

    3. Select 3 System Information Menu

    4. Select 8 Processor Configuration/Deconfiguration Menu

    5. Select the number of each processor you want to Deconfigure

    6. Backout to Main Menu and restart server

    Thanks for the help.

What model of Power server do you need to deactivate these procs on?  Where did you get this procedure from?  Have you consulted your IBM partner / vendor?

I found the procedure off of another forum.  I'm checking to see if this procedure is correct.  I do not know what the correct procedure is.   By vendor, do you mean our IBM business partner?  Sorry but I doubt very much they can help me.

I think what you want to do is sync the minimum processor value.  What version of HMC are you using?  When you say "I know how to log on our HMC and get a session" I assume you mean the GUI and not command line.  If the HMC is V8, are you using classic or enhanced login?
