    Hi,

How can I define a segmentable/ non-segmentable assignments in Maximo. We have scenarios where there are 2 which are for 8 hours duration. One of them can be segmented into multi-day assignments and another cannot be segmented and can only be executed in a single-day. How can I differentiate these 2 assignments? Is there a flag or functionality in Maximo WOs which can support this kind of assignment in scheduler/ GrAssignment?

    Hi,

I work in Maximo Scheduler Support.    For this I would suggest two tasks.   One marked Interruptible for the assignment that can be segmented into multi-day assignments and the other task marked Non-Interruptible (flag unchecked)  for the assignment that cannot be segmented.

Then when this WO and its tasks are processed by Graphical Scheduling and Graphical Assignment they will take note of these requirements and schedule accordingly.

You can learn more on the Scheduler Wiki:

    Hi Dick,

Thanks for your prompt response and with details and explanations against my requirements. They perfectly answer what I was looking for. I have also used "Interruptible" flag but while assigning work in Assignment Manager, it does not consider this flag (scenario is not to be segmented) and segments "non-interruptible" assignments. So, I want to make sure if this is the correct flag for this functionality in Gr. Assignment.

Again, appreciate your inputs on this.

    Hello Venkataseshan
At the WO and/or task level there is a flag - "Interruptible" and another "Interruptible Shift" which are used in Graphical Scheduling to determine if work can be split over non working time or not - and what that non working time is when you have multiple shifts in the schedule.  While you can display the Interruptible value in Graphical Assignment we do not prevent you from splitting non Interruptible work, you are welcome to create a RFE for this one as we have heard the request before.
    thank you

    Glad to support our customers.
Assignment Manager does not consider the interruptible flag at all.  It only applies to Scheduler applications.  As I said Graphical Scheduling does respect this value both visually and through optimization.  For assignment in Graphical Assignment and the new Graphical Work Week we do not enforce interruptible it is display information only as we allow the user to override and split any assignment.  However optimization in Graphical Assignment will adhere to the Interruptible rules.
