Search for CLASSSTRUCTUREID in the Find Classification search

MAM 7.6.1.2 (one org, one site):

In the Classifications application, we have the Find Classification textbox in the top left corner (just like any other application).

I think the Find Classification textbox searches either the CLASSSTRUCTURE.CLASSIFICATIONID field or on the CLASSIFICATION table (I'm not sure which one -- in my case, the values are the same).

Regardless, I don't find the OOB setup very helpful for the work I do. For example, if I search for HVAC, Maximo will open the first HVAC classification it finds. That might be ok if there were only one HVAC classification. But that's not the case -- there are 49 classifications for HVAC.

The open first record thing can be misleading -- I don't always remember to look at the list view to see if there were actually lots of records returned.
I also find it clunky to look through the list of HVAC classifications to find the one that I wanted to search for. Even with the help of extra fields, like the full hierarchy path, there is still room for error when looking for a specific record. They all look very similar.

I'd rather search for a unique identifier in the Find Classification textbox -- like CLASSSTRUCTUREID.
When I want to navigate to a classification, I'm usually referring to correspondence, documentation, lists, etc. that include the CLASSSTRUCTUREID that I could copy/paste. So it would make more sense to search for CLASSSTRUCTUREID instead of the non-unique identifier that is used OOB.

As a temporary workaround, I've added CLASSSTRUCTUREID to the list view. That works to a degree, but it requires extra steps:
In the list view filter for CLASSTRUCTUREID:
      1. Type in the equals sign to do an exact search.

      2. If only one record is found, Maximo doesn't automatically open that record in the Classifications tab. I need to manually click that one record to open it, which seems surprising to me.

It would be better if I could just open the Classifications application, paste in the CLASSSTRUCTUREID, hit enter, and automatically open that record.
Is there a way to do that?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

You can try give keyattribute="your field name" in top of application.xml  <presentation tag
