In the HMC GUI, there's the possibility to schedule dlpar operations, but I can't find a capped/uncapped option. I was thinking of the command line -dynamically changing the sharing mode is possible with the chhwres command-, but access to the crontab is not allowed because of the restricted shell of hscroot.

    You can (I believe) configure profiles as uncapped with a weighting of 0, this makes them behave as if they're capped. You can then dynamically change the weighting at a later stage, although I've no idea if you can schedule that.

    Anyway, you could, at a push if you find your command does work (I don't think it does) schedule it from a remote host using ssh to the HMC assuming you've configured remote ssh access previously.

    Actually you can change the capped/uncapped setting using the DLPAR->Processor->Add or Remove task, or using the command line using the chsyscfg command. The attribute is called sharing_mode, man chsyscfg will show you the values you can set it too.

    And as Tony mentioned this could be automated by setting up a cron job on another system, that can ssh to the HMC.
