    I will tell you that runqueue should not even be in double digits for any length of time. I'm surprised you haven't some other serious issues.

    What DB are you using? Have you tuned your AIX OS to the DB? Oracle has a whole document regarding tuning with AIX. so do other DB's.

    Go download this IBM White paper and keep it on hand for future use also. Page 32 will tell you what parameter changes are recommended. Read the document first so you can understand what you're doing. Some of the parameters require a reboot.

    Also you will need to get with your DBA and have them make any necessary changes to Oracle itself.
