    It appears that other RPM's which I have downloaded, are dependent on gettext >= 0.19.7-1  (such as sudo-1.8.20p2-4)

    How do I upgrade gettext without breaking rpm itself?

    You can upgrade gettext. We made sure it won't break rpm.
