I am planning to remove two LPARs from a P590 box which have totally 4 LPARs. SAP application is running on both the lpars and TSM backups are configured. Can anyone guide me through the steps in removing the lpars, their profiles and all the configuration settings from the P590 box. AIX 5.3 TL 5 is installed on both the LPARs.

    Thanks,
    Sree

    Job done.

The CPU, memory and adapters (disk and network) assigned to the LPARs are then free to be reallocated for other uses.

    thanks N

if your lpar is non vio just go to hmc shut the lpar down that you want to delete, once lpar is not acctive right click on it and delet it , that is all you need to do resources will be allocated back to storage pool

the only other thing you might need to clean up is you disk but that depends where you disk is comming from ESS, svc etc

    good luck

Thanks for the suggestions and replies. I got the process on how to remove an LPAR completely.

We need to shutdown the LPAR and then delete the LPAR through HMC, then we can assign the resources to the other LPARs. Before doing this tasks, we need to take an mksysb backup of the LPAR. If ESS storage devices are connected, we need to remove the storage devices from the LPAR and ask the storage guys to clear off the data on these disks.
    Thanks,

This critical console data contains all the lpar setting, although u done a mksysb,it only contain
the OS backup not the lpar.
