  • 1.  RDz - UT or RD&T on a server

    Posted Mon December 30, 2013 04:27 AM

    Hi,

What is the common deployment strategy used for RDz - UT/RD&T. One per individual user or deploying it on a server and have a limited number of users access it ?

Also is it possible to run these products on Linux on System Z ?

    Thanks

This varies widely depending on the application.  A properly configured RD&T box on good sized hardware can support many users and may be a good candidate for integrated testing scenarios before system test.  Smaller boxes configured for unit test use may work perfectly well for one or two users.  An alternate question might be how do you intend to create your master image for RD&T and how and where will you deploy it.  This is probably going to a better determiner of what size box you use and how many users you assign to it.

RDz-UT and RD&T run only on Intel Linux.  They do not run on Linux on System z.

Thanks John for the quick response.

Is there any specific reason why it cannot be supported on Linux on System Z. My understanding is that Linux on System Z is not different than Intel Linux.

Our system z emulator is an Intel based emulator.  It will not run on system z (ie.  it emulates system z.)
