What kind of ThinkPad do you run RDz UT on ?
I am going to request an additional Thinkpad for RDz UT and need to specify what TP I need and the
prereq's doesn't specify very clearly what I need.
What I think I need is for the Unit Test Standard

• 6GB RAM
• 160GB harddrive (should it be a SSD ?)
• a very fast two core processor (or should I request a four core)

Any tips/experiences are welcome !

I'm running RDz UT on a ThinkPad W500, 6 GB RAM, and 320 GB hard disk.
The number of cores depends on whether you'll be running with Unit Test Standard or Specialty. The type of processor and hard disk depends on how you plan to use RDz UT.

I ordered mine a few weeks ago and went with a w510. Great machine although I can't say I'm up and running with RDzUT. Lotta pages in these 6 user manuals.

This hardware was a little newer so I went with SLES 11.2 so that the needed drivers were part of the installation. Physically everything is working minus the wireless networking.

I am trying to install the z1090 (and z/OS) on a TP W510.
This is a 32-bit CPU machine.
My manager had ordered the 64-bit version of the z1090 installation disk.

Does anybody have or know where I can download the 32-bit version of the z1090 installation code?

(my opsys is openSUSE 11.3)

RDz UT only supports 64-bit hardware. 32-bit does not provide sufficient performance. I believe W510s are 64-bit machines. Perhaps the issue is that you installed a 32-bit version of Linux? or you BIOS is set for 32-bit

If you are requesting a "second ThinkPad" for running RDz UT, then as you can see, you need a W500 or W510 or a similar model. If you are the only one using it or Demo'ing it, then you only seen the Standard edition which uses a single core....
I have 6 GB of RAM and allocate 4600m for the z/OS that comes up and everything appears to run "OK"...
