  • 1.  RD&T Installation manager problem

    I have an issue with Installation Manager that prevents my RD&T V9.1 install.  I managed to run launchpad.sh and it upgraded Installation Manager.  I get a hard stop on the RD&T install because it says that 9.0 is already installed.  It tells me to exit installation Manager and select update or Rollback, but those options are never presented to me.  I end up getting the same message and I'm in an endless loop.  It's not documented in the manual, so I could use your help.  I tried running the console version, but that one just blips a screen and then stops.  Help.

    OK, I may have figured something out.  On my OpenSuse desktop, there is an IBM Installation Manager icon, and if I click on that I see the update and Rollback icons, along with others.  I went to the repositories page and put in the path to the repository on the CD, and it comes up with RD&T 9.1 ready for update.  Installation Manager at this level is 1.7.3.  Will this work or do i need to do something else here?

    Tom,

    The update process from RD&T 9.0 to 9.1 is broken. You are going to need to uninstall RD&T 9.0 and then install RD&T 9.1. If you get some form of failure messages about failure to uninstall the Sentinel Keys Server (zpdt-shk-server) or Sentinel System Driver (sntl-sud) when either uninstalling RD&T 9.0 or installing RD&T 9.1, try issuing the following commands in this order:

    • Issue # rpm -e --allmatches zpdt-shk-server

    • Issue # rpm -e --allmatches sntl-sud

    John,

    That worked, 9.0 uninstalled clean, 9.1 installed clean.  Ran the sysctl and bash updates, no prob.  Logged on to the Rational License Key Center and it shows me no key.  I paid my yearly fee in December of 2014.  Sent the screenshot to RR.  Ugh.

    OK, figured out the key.  Since I'm on the upgrade path, I had to return the key and then get a new one.  Very intuitive.  Unloading the V2R1 disks now.  Looks like it will be massively time consuming.  A script would have helped.
