I have a p5 570 with AIX 5.3 installed on it. I want to synchronize it with our NTP server.

My /etc/environment has got -- "TZ=IST+5:30" as this server is in India and there isn't standard timezone for India, so we had to create one using "smit system" command. We didn't try with GMT....

Now when we try and query the NTP server using the command "ntpdate -d <NTP Server>", it shows me a shift of 10 hrs 9 min or in other words it gives me an offset value of -39587.121879. So, it takes the clock of my server "10hr 9min" back.

Please suggest me what needs to be done and what parameters should I look for other than these....and how can I sync it.

If any other information is needed then please ask for it......for your reference my other servers are properly synced with this NTP server but they are either Linux/Solaris Servers.

    TIA

    Atul Gautam
